How To Join

Interested in joining our family of Faith?

We couldn't be more grateful for the beautiful and grace-filled possibility of your desire to inquire about becoming a member of our church! Whether this is your entree into the Christian tradition, or whether you have found a home before in a Christian congregation, or whether you land somewhere in-between, we are thankful for the opportunity to join with you in ministry and service!

Becoming a member in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is a straightforward, relatively easy, and very important step to take along this your journey of faith and life. It is a decision that you and your family will make together with prayerful, encouraging support from us - your new church family.

Our congregation is comprised of two types of members, full and affiliate. Whichever option you choose, please complete our Membership Interest Form and a member of our family will follow up with you quickly. You are not a member by simply filling out the form, nor do we expect any commitment. It is simply a vehicle to let us know that you're seeking more information on how to join.

You may join Faith Presbyterian Church as a full member through:

  • Profession of Faith — if you have never been a member of a Christian church but wish to do so now

  • Reaffirmation of Faith — if a previous membership in any Christian church has lapsed and you wish to renew your vows with this congregation

  • Letter of Transfer — if you wish to transfer a current membership from another congregation

Another option is to join as an affiliate member, which allows you to formally unite with our congregation while retaining your full membership in your home church. Affiliate members are entitled to all the rights of membership except voting in congregational meetings and holding office. Through our many affiliate members, Faith Presbyterian Church enjoys ties of affection with many other Christian faith communities throughout the United States.

Why is church membership so important?

Hebrews 10:23-25 "Let us hold fast to confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near."

God wants His children to meet with other believers on a regular basis. He wants His people in church. The accountability and encouragement found in church fellowship anchors us against the tides that work to sweep us away. We can develop a network of relationships with other believers that works to ensure we don't abandon our faith when the pressure is on to do so. To neglect the regular assembling with other Christians is to miss out on this essential element in the development of our faith.

Hebrews 10:22, "Let us draw near to God with a true heart in full assurance of faith." God desires a relationship with His children. By becoming active in a local church, you safeguard yourself against missing out on all that God has for you. Your participation in a local church protects your personal fellowship with God. When you drift away from the family of God, it is only a matter of time until you drift away from fellowship with God. Solomon said it this way: "He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed" Proverbs. 3:20.

We believe that joining the church is a way to identify with a local body of believers. To become a part of a church family that encourages one another, stimulates one another in love and good deeds, spurs one another along and watches out for one another.

Fellowship better together!  Grow better together!  Serve better together!  Worship better together!  Reach out better together!

One of our pastors will personally contact you should you have any questions related to membership at Faith Presbyterian Church. Please do not hesitate to let us know that you'd like further information.

How To Give

How To Give

You've Got Options When Deciding How to Give Faith.

Prayerfully seek God's counsel to determine the method that best supports your giving goals and lifestyle.

Online Giving allows us to give to the church using a secured online connection. It only takes about a minute to generate your transaction. You may choose to designate your gift to a specific purpose, or you may simply direct it to the general budget fund. You immediately have a paper record of your gift as well as an email confirmation, and it goes directly into the church's bank account. For those who might be out of town or unable to attend services, you can take care of your offering online as long as you have Internet access. It is easy, convenient, and secure!

When you join us for worship service, the blue offering envelopes provide a convenient way to give cash or submit checks. You can also drop off or mail a check to the church PO Box 1045 Goldsboro NC 27533 or have your giving automatically drafted through automated bill-pay or even direct deposit.

There is always a box near our sanctuary to collect items for those in need. Whether it's because of our ongoing commitment to Dillard Middle School or our seasonal initiatives, we pray that that box is never empty. Please search your heart (as well as your house) and bring in a gift when you can.

Have you considered what you want your church to become, beyond your own life here among us? Planned Giving costs little or nothing today, but when people like us make planned gifts to our church now, it’s as if we have added another fresh brick to the foundation we will pass on to the believers who will follow us. There are several common types of Planned Gifts including:

  • Creating a bequest under your last will and testament
  • Designating Faith Presbyterian Church as a partial or whole beneficiary of your IRA or other retirement plan
  • Designating Faith Presbyterian Church as a beneficiary under a life insurance policy
  • Future gifts of securities using a transfer on death beneficiary designation

Gifts to Faith Presbyterian Church made under your will or through a beneficiary designation generally should qualify for the federal estate tax charitable deduction.

If you are interested in any of these types of giving, please contact us.

Without question, financial discussions are the most difficult to have in the church. At Faith Presbyterian Church, we believe God's mandate that we be faithful stewards goes both ways. As your financial partner in ministry, we make the following commitment to you:

  • We will not barrage you with high-pressure fundraising appeals.
  • We will be straightforward and candid regarding financial needs. We’ll tell it like it is…no more, no less, honestly and with integrity.
  • We will not exaggerate. We won’t feed you ministry “hype.” You’ll hear about the results of your giving and the impact it is having without making it sound like more than it is.
  • We will keep necessary overhead lean and efficient. We are committed to meeting the logistical needs of our ministry in the most efficient way possible with the least amount of money.
  • We will be completely open about our finances. Our books are open and our financial records are managed under the supervision of an outside advisory team for accountability purposes. If you want any information, just ask.
  • We will conduct our administrative and financial affairs with excellence, not extravagance.

How To Grow

How To Grow

We believe faith is alive and active in all God's people.

Growing in faith is a journey, really. Whenever you begin, either as a young child or a "seasoned citizen", you never finish being perfected in your faith. Faith Presbyterian Church is a collection of people that pursue meaningful relationships with God and one another. It’s never too late to begin the lifelong process!

We weren’t meant to do this alone. The strength of the church lies within its community. Relationships are an irreplaceable part of the full life that God gives — anything from the simple hello to your neighbor, to the deep relationships that provide our greatest source of strength, encouragement, and love. We don’t want to just see each other for an hour or two on Sunday. We want to be a part of a vibrant, growing community.

Here are a few ways in which you can get connected at Faith Presbyterian:

Sunday Worship

The first, and perhaps, easiest way to begin your relationship with the Faith Family is to participate in our 11:30 am Sunday morning worship service.  Check out the FIRST TIME VISITORS page if you'll be joining us for the first time.

Bible Study

If haven't experienced Bible Study, now's the time! Our Bible Studies are designed to be a "talkback" session between the congregation and the pastoral staff. The intimate setting is ideal for exploring complex theological issues as well as discovering how to apply biblical truths to your own life.

Special Events and Social Gatherings

At various times throughout the course of the year we have church-wide gatherings such as our annual church picnic. You are more than welcome to attend any of these. See our EVENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS page for upcoming scheduled events.

Where is God leading you to serve?  We have created opportunities for you to experience the impact of God’s work here and across the globe by praying, going, and giving. Step out of your comfort zone. Engage in the needs of others. Give sacrificially. We believe that doing these things will transform you from the inside out and help you to grow in your faith, while gaining a local and global perspective of God’s Kingdom.
